If you’ve got questions about SHIFT, read on below for answers to some of the most common one’s we’ve already been asked.

How does SHIFT work?

SHIFT emits very low-level pulsing magnetic fields at different points in time toward different areas of your head. The emitted magnetic fields are less than other commercially available pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) devices.  PEMF is known to positively influence signal transduction pathways, ion binding, ion transport across human cell membranes and calcium (Ca++) ion transport.  

Do I need to do anything before using SHIFT?

We suggest that you drink water and be well hydrated before you use SHIFT. Make sure you do not have any metal in your scalp or hair (like bobby pins). Do not use SHIFT if you have any implants in your head. Earrings are fine. Some people experience a burst of energy after using SHIFT, so we suggest that, at least to begin with, avoid using SHIFT too close to bedtime. How do I know my SHIFT is ready to use?

Press the On/Off Button. If the Charge Status LED is green, SHIFT is ready to use. If the Charge Status LED is yellow or red, please charge SHIFT for at least 1 hour before using.

How do I start using my SHIFT?

Press the On/Off Button. Wear your SHIFT. SHIFT runs for 25 minutes and shuts off automatically. You may turn it off at any time by pressing the On/Off Button again. While using SHIFT, if you feel your pain has alleviated or if you feel sufficiently relaxed, you may stop your SHIFT session even if the full 25 minutes has not elapsed. Just press the On/Off Button again.

While using SHIFT, I feel more tingling, aches, pain, or tightness.

If you experience transient tingles, aches or tightness, consider moving or stretching the part of your body experiencing those sensations and continue using SHIFT through the full 25-minute session, provided it does not hurt to do so. If you are truly not feeling well, stop using SHIFT and consult your physician. 

I’ve tried SHIFT but haven’t felt positive effects yet.

If you're not feeling positive effects, try changing how you use SHIFT. If you were mentally active during sessions, try, instead, closing your eyes or meditating. If you were meditating, try being a bit more active, i.e. reading, walking, or watching media.

What are other ways of using SHIFT?

The Morning Routine Waking up with a sense of dread for the day? Feeling stressed after reading those first few emails? Wear SHIFT while catching up on the news or drinking your morning cup of coffee.

Light Exercise Wear SHIFT while you’re getting your steps in for the day, walking around a store, or doing some light lifting.

Use SHIFT post-lunch to minimize your afternoon energy dip.

Nerves Wear SHIFT to reduce those jittery feelings about anything: from big events to everyday obstacles.

Just Chilling Deepen your precious few moments of relaxation. Wear SHIFT while meditating, listening to music, or watching TV.

Ouch Waking up with a sore neck. A wrong position held for too long. Sometimes that one ache manifests out of the blue. Use SHIFT to alleviate your chronic aches and pains.

Sometimes general anxiety clouds your thinking and transforms simple tasks into overwhelming chores. Clear the skies and dampen the headwinds with SHIFT.

What time of day should I use my SHIFT?

You can use SHIFT at any time. However, some users report getting a boost of energy after use, so we recommend using SHIFT in the morning or afternoon hours to begin. As you become familiar with SHIFT’s effects, you may then expand your use to different times. 

Can I wear my SHIFT in the rain?

The outer surface of SHIFT is water resistant, not waterproof. Therefore, we recommend that you do not wear SHIFT in the rain or moist environments. 

Can I exercise with my SHIFT?

SHIFT may be used during light exercise, such as walking or light weight training. We do not recommend wearing SHIFT if it may get physically bent or expose SHIFT to substantial amounts of sweat.  

Can I take my SHIFT in my carry-on luggage when flying?

We have not experienced any issues when traveling with SHIFT, in either checked-in luggage or carry-on bags. SHIFT may be safely exposed to X-rays.

Can I drive while wearing my SHIFT?

We recommend first using SHIFT in a comfortable, safe location while not operating any machinery, including a car. As you become familiar with SHIFT’s effects on you, you may then determine whether it is safe to use when driving. 

My SHIFT got dirty.

SHIFT looks like a comfortable camper cap but is still an advanced neuromodulation device and should be treated with care. Hand-clean SHIFT only. Use alcohol wipes that do not have bleach or chlorine. See Limitation of Liability and Precautions at www.fluxwear.com/termsofuse. Avoid: 

crumpling, crushing, or bending SHIFT;

exposing SHIFT to excessive heat or cold;

submerging SHIFT in water. The outside surface of SHIFT, is water resistant but not waterproof. The inside surface is neither water resistant or waterproof. It is susceptible to water damage;

or banging the controller housing;

dry cleaning SHIFT or placing SHIFT in a washing machine.

Is my SHIFT the right size?

A properly sized SHIFT should be snug around your head. Since some people are in between sizes, your SHIFT may be slightly loose or slightly tight but still be the right size. However, if it is uncomfortable or inconvenient to wear—because it is too constricting or slides too much when you wear it, immediately contact us at support@fluxwear.com. How long does my SHIFT need to charge?

Typically, it only needs 4 hours to charge.

How do I charge my SHIFT?

When SHIFT is sufficiently charged, the LED looks green when you press the On/Off button. No further action is required. If you press the On/Off button and the LED is yellow, SHIFT is still functional but it is in a low battery state. You may use SHIFT but, if possible, we recommend charging it first. If the LED is red, then SHIFT needs to be charged before use. Plug the charging cord into the USB-C port at the top of the controller. Plug the other end of the cord into the charging adapter and plug the adapter into the wall,

How much usage can I get from one charge?

A fully charged SHIFT should deliver up to 10 25-minute sessions. 

Is SHIFT designed to treat any specific medical conditions?

SHIFT is a wellness device and is being commercialized pursuant to the Federal Drug Administration’s (FDA) Policy for Low-Risk Devices that promote a healthy lifestyle. It is not being advertised as a way of diagnosing, curing, mitigating, preventing, or treating any disease.

Is SHIFT registered with the FDA? 

SHIFT is a FDA Class I registered device.

I charged SHIFT for eight hours, but the LED does not turn on at all or is still yellow or red when I unplug the charging cord and press the On/Off button.

SHIFT may not be maintaining or keeping a charge, and there may be a problem with the unit.  Please contact support@fluxwear.com for further assistance.

Can I try SHIFT before using it?

We are often offering people an opportunity to try SHIFT at community events, educational institutions, conferences, or other venues, particularly in or around Southern California. If you have a suggestion of where we should be, please contact us at support@fluxwear.com

What is the refund, exchange and warranty policy?  

We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your SHIFT to submit a return for a full refund. If you wish to exchange your SHIFT for a different size or color, please inform us at support@fluxwear.com.  Please note, we allow only one return or exchange per original order. Up to 1 year from the date of purchase, FluxWear will repair, replace, or refund any damaged SHIFTs in cases where that damage is the result of a defect in our material or workmanship. Where can I find FluxWear’s corporate policies?

FluxWear is selling SHIFT as a wellness device. SHIFT is not being promoted, sold, distributed or advertised for the treatment, diagnosis, or cure of any disease. By accessing or using SHIFT, you intend and expressly agree to be bound by all of FluxWear’s policies, including the Terms of Use.
